Protection/cell-balancing
This sub-system is responsible for protecting the battery pack. The data that is monitored includes individual cell voltage and pack temperature. It also implements cell balancing of each battery cell inside the battery pack. Additionally it can control the charge and discharge FET present in the battery pack.

Charge/discharge power stage
The Charge/Discharge Power Stage is used to protect the battery pack from abnormalities such as over voltage, over current charging/discharging, over temperature and external short-circuit. This can be implemented by using two low voltage FETs, which are controlled by the protector.
