PFC power stage

Isolated DC/DC power stage

Auxiliary power supply

Auxiliary power supply generally consists of a low power high voltage DC/DC converter for developing multiple isolated or non-isolated rails used to power various subsystems in the end equipment such as PWM controllers, gate drivers, sense and feedback components and in some cases a FAN. It can be made of multiple stages where the output from the main DC/DC converter could be fed to further low voltage DC/DC converters or LDOs. A typical aspect of the auxiliary power supply is its low standby power which is important in improving overall system efficiency.

Battery profiler & control unit

The battery profiler subsystem implements a multi step charging profile for the battery. It senses the battery voltage, current and temperature and controls the operation of the isolated DC/DC power stage to maintain the charging voltage and current. In some systems, this MCU also generates the necessary PWM signals to drive the isolated DC/DC power stage. MCU is also used for external communication.
