Motion detection

A passive infrared (PIR) sensor is the primary means for detecting motion. A secondary PIR or microwave sensor can be used for false-trigger avoidance.

Non-isolated DC/DC power supply

Wireless motion (or occupancy) detectors are powered from batteries. Buck converters with high light-load efficiency may be considered for designs prioritizing maximum battery life. For designs operating from a low voltage battery, boost converters may be used instead. Linear regulators (LDOs) are a good option for simple designs. LDOs also enable added functionalities including EMI filtering.
