Charge/discharge power stage

The Charge/Discharge Power Stage is used to protect the battery pack from abnormalities such as over voltage, over current charging/discharging, over temperature and external short-circuit. This can be implemented by using two low voltage FETs, which are controlled by the AFE.

Monitoring/protection/cell-balancing

This sub-system is responsible for monitoring and protecting the battery pack. The data that is monitored includes individual cell voltages and pack temperature. It also implements active/passive cell balancing of each battery cell inside the battery pack.

Battery management control unit

The Battery Management controller subsystem implements the State of Charge (SoC) and State of Health (SoH) monitoring of the battery pack for status monitoring and indication purposes.It also consist of a MCU, which can communicate and configure the battery analog front end.Additionally, it also implements an externally exposed communication interface outside of the battery-pack for status monitoring and indication purposes.
