Industry News 2023-11-08

【Lansheng Technology News】On November 7, 2023,Infineon Technologies AGsigned long-term supply agreements for silicon carbide (SiC) and silicon (Si) power semiconductors with Hyundai Motor and Kia. Infineon will build and retain production capacity to supply silicon carbide and silicon power modules and chips to Hyundai/Kia until 2030. Hyundai/Kia will invest in supporting this capacity construction and capacity reserve.

Heung Soo Kim, executive vice president and head of the Global Strategy Office of Hyundai Motor Group, said: "Infineon is an important strategic partner with stable production capabilities and unique technological capabilities in the power semiconductor market. This cooperation not only helps "It will not only stabilize the supply of semiconductors to Hyundai Motor and Kia, but also enable us to solidify our leading position in the global electric vehicle market with a competitive product lineup."

Peter Schiefer, President of Infineon Technologies' Automotive Electronics Division, said: "Future cars will develop in a clean, safe and smart direction, and semiconductors are at the core of this transformation. As a trusted partner, we are very pleased to advance our cooperation with Hyundai / Kia. We will provide high-quality high-end products, system-level knowledge and application understanding, while continuing to invest in increasing production capacity to meet the growing demand for automotive power electronics."

Infineon'spower semiconductors are key technologies in the transformation of electric mobility. This transformation will drive strong growth in the power semiconductor market, especially those based on wide bandgap materials such as SiC. With the substantial expansion of the Kulim wafer fab, Infineon will build the world's largest 200mm SiC power semiconductor wafer fab and further consolidate its leading position as a high-quality volume supplier to the automotive industry. In line with Infineon's strategy of flexibly allocating production capacity among multiple plants, the Kulim plant will complement the current production capacity of Infineon's Villach plant in Austria and the further capacity expansion of the Dresden plant in Germany.
