【Lansheng Technology News】German media reported that the German antitrust agency stated in a statement that it approved Bosch, Infineon and NXP to invest in TSMC's Dresden 12-inch chip factory in Germany.

Bosch, Infineon and NXP will each acquire 10% of TSMC's European semiconductor manufacturing company. Andreas Mundt, Chairman of the German Antitrust Office, stated that the recent geopolitical turmoil represents how important the stability of semiconductor supply is, especially for the German industry. Both the EU and Germany are committed to creating more semiconductor production bases in Europe and Germany.

On August 8, TSMC announced that it would jointly invest in European semiconductor manufacturing companies with three European semiconductor companies, including Bosch, Infineon, and NXP. ESMC will start construction of the Dresden 12-inch chip factory in the second half of 2024, with the goal of putting it into production by the end of 2027.

The main processes of the 12-inch chip factory are TSMC's 28/22nm and 16/12nm. It has a monthly production capacity of 40,000 12-inch chips and creates about 2,000 high-tech professional jobs. The 12-inch chip factory will borrow equity investment, loans and EU and German government funding subsidies, with a total investment of more than 10 billion euros. TSMC holds 70% of the shares and is responsible for operations, while Bosch, Infineon, and NXP each hold 10%.
