Microchip launches MPLAB XC-DSC compiler with flexible licensing options, further expanding development ecosystem

Industry News 2023-11-16

【Lansheng Technology News】As the industrial and autonomous vehicle markets rapidly evolve, there is a growing need for software tools that enable faster and more efficient coding and debugging of real-time control applications. To better serve developers of dsPIC® digital signal controllers frequently used in real-time control systems, Microchip Technology Inc. introduces the MPLAB® XC-DSC Compiler.

As the latest addition to Microchip's compiler product line, MPLAB XC-DSC is optimized to make it easier and more efficient for developers to write and debug efficient, high-performance code for dsPIC DSCs. dsPIC DSCs combine the high performance of a digital signal processor (DSP) with the simplicity of a standard microcontroller (MCU) to meet the needs of time-critical embedded applications.

The MPLAB XC-DSC Compiler PRO license allows designers to access optimization features to minimize code size, speed up code generation, reduce memory and power requirements, and realize the full potential of DSC designs. Unlike traditional licensing options, Microchip provides software access on a per-project or on-demand basis, reducing costs and increasing flexibility.

Licensing options:

● Workstation license – can be installed and executed on up to three hosts for use by one engineer

● Network server license - installed on the server, can be accessed by any machine on the Internet, limited to one at a time

● Subscription license - similar to workstation license, renewed on a monthly basis

● Site license – can be accessed by multiple machines/users simultaneously

MPLAB XC Compiler supports Linux®, macOS® and Windows® operating systems, enabling designers to use the platform of their choice for embedded development.

Development tools

The MPLAB XC Compiler works seamlessly within the MPLAB The MPLAB X integrated development environment is a free, versatile, multi-platform environment that reduces the learning curve and tool investment required for software development.
