Infineon's single-chip solution for NFC passive locks powers new smart lock solutions

【Lansheng Technology News】With the help of Infineon Technologies AG's smart lock solution based on NFC technology and the lock body does not require a battery, KISS, a warehouse rental service provider, uses smart locks to achieve important guarantees for the security of storage facilities.

The smart lock uses Infineon's NAC1080 microcontroller (MCU), a single-chip solution that integrates a half-bridge driver IC and is suitable for applications such as NFC passive locks.

KISS founder Robert Kapp said: "We are very excited to launch a new smart lock product for the global market, which perfectly integrates advanced NFC technology and energy harvesting mechanism. This lock not only provides unparalleled security, but also embodies our commitment to The pursuit of sustainable development. This not only refers to the unlocking method, but also reflects that this product unlocks a future that eliminates inefficiency and creates an environmentally friendly life through technological means."

Doris Keitel-Schulz, Vice President of the Contactless Power and Sensing Product Line of Infineon Technologies' Power and Sensing Systems Division, said: "We are very pleased to see that the company's innovative technology can help customers develop disruptive solutions. This reduces e-waste and reduces overall carbon emissions.”

Infineon's NAC1080 integrates a half-bridge driver IC and an energy harvesting module, thus enabling the development of smart actuators in a single-chip solution with fewer components. Through the NFC interface, the NAC1080 MCU allows users to directly control the device using their smartphones, allowing a KISS lock system to manage multiple storage facilities. In addition, the system can be expanded with advanced local and cloud capabilities via mobile applications. NAC1080 also reduces material costs and supports miniaturization of product designs.

The MCU supports multiple working modes, which can be powered by the energy collected by the mobile phone through the NFC function in passive mode, or powered by the battery in active mode. NAC1080 also integrates an AES128 accelerator and a random number generator, which can encrypt and decrypt data while achieving ultra-low power consumption. In addition to being used in NFC passive locks, NAC1080 can also be used as an emergency backup power supply and as an NFC IC interface for electronic devices.
