Texas Instruments helps Lenovo Group launch new advanced driver assistance system platform

Industry News 2023-10-27

【Lansheng Technology News】From October 24 to 25, 2023, Lenovo Group held the 2023 Global Innovation and Technology Conference (Tech World 2023) with the theme of “AI for All”. As part of the conference, Lenovo Automotive Computing announced a new advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) platform powered by Texas Instruments' Arm® Cortex®-based microprocessor (MPU) and supported by Nullmax advanced algorithm software. With the help of innovative technologies from Texas Instruments processors, this ADAS platform can significantly improve the intelligence, responsiveness and safety of cars, and will fully unleash the potential of next-generation smart car systems.

As intelligent driving functions enter a stage of leapfrog upgrade and L2 is rapidly popularized, the application of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) is becoming more and more widespread. Lenovo released its first automotive computing strategic plan and development vision at the 2022 Innovation and Technology Conference. It is committed to combining Lenovo’s computing technology advantages with the needs of automotive intelligence and becoming an enabler of changes such as automotive intelligence and connectivity. , which coincides with Texas Instruments’ vision of accelerating vehicle safety and autonomy.

The new ADAS platform launched by Lenovo covers domain controllers and front-facing camera systems, using Texas Instruments’ Arm®-based AM62A and TDA4 processor series. Artem Aginskiy, general manager of Texas Instruments' Sitara™ MPU product line, said: "Our AM62A and TDA4 processor families fully combine the high efficiency and high-performance processing integration required for next-generation front-end camera solutions, and we look forward to helping Lenovo simplify automotive systems. development process to meet the trends and needs of modern automotive design.”

The Texas Instruments AM62A processor is part of a family of Arm® Cortex®-based vision processors with a system-on-chip (SoC) architecture that supports broad integration. Integrated components include an Arm Cortex-A53 or Cortex-A72 central processing unit, third-generation Texas Instruments image signal processor, internal memory, interfaces and hardware accelerators to power deep learning algorithms from 1 to 32 teraflops per second AI processing function of computing (TOPS).

In addition, the Texas Instruments TDA4 processor family is a member of the Jacinto™ 7 processor family and is a product of the dual-core Arm® Cortex®-A72 SoC and C7x DS with deep learning, line-of-sight capabilities and multimedia accelerators. Texas Instruments takes products from the mid-century. automotive and functional safety expertise to design the Jacinto™ 7 processor platform, addressing sensing, part handling and system-level issues.

Combining superior awareness of the vehicle's surroundings with multi-directional monitoring and a vehicle-centric design approach, Texas Instruments is able to optimize power and system cost. The family integrates key functional safety features on the chip, enabling both safety-critical and non-safety-critical functions in a single device and improving data management by combining high-speed and automotive interfaces.

Since Texas Instruments entered into cooperation with Lenovo and Nullmax, the three parties have leveraged their technological advantages to promote the development and breakthrough of smart car safety and autonomy. The ADAS platform launched this time is the latest manifestation of the in-depth empowerment of the three parties. Texas Instruments has been rooted in China for more than 30 years and continues to support customers in various industries, including Lenovo. Currently, Texas Instruments has built a complete local support system in China, including an integrated manufacturing base, two product distribution centers, three R&D centers, and nearly 20 sales and technical support offices across the country. Texas Instruments will continue to work with customers to meet future challenges and opportunities.
