Infineon and Eatron collaborate to advance automotive battery management solutions

Industry News 2023-11-09

【Lansheng Technology News】On November 7, 2023, Infineon Technologies AG and Eatron Technologies signed a cooperation agreement to integrate Eatron’s advanced machine learning solutions and algorithms into Infineon’s AURIX™ TC4x microcontrollers (MCUs). )middle. This collaboration aims to advance the development of automotive battery management systems (BMS).

Thanks to the MCU family’s cutting-edge machine learning capabilities and integrated parallel processing unit (PPU), Eatron is able to maximize the performance and accuracy of its AI-driven battery management software. The two companies are working together to help electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers solve three technical challenges that have so far hindered customer mass adoption of electric vehicles: range anxiety, charging speed and battery health.

Umut Genc, CEO of Eatron, said: “Infineon’s AURIX TC4x Parallel Processing Unit (PPU) enables us to provide AI-based battery diagnostics, including lithium plating detection and prognosis, state of health (SoH) and aging trajectories, as well as edge remaining Lifetime (RUL) prediction. Our leading 'State-of-X' (SoX) solution provides the most accurate and powerful battery-level assessment of available charge, power and battery health. This gives TC4x users the opportunity to use our software and machine learning models for leading battery management system (BMS) solutions."

The PPU is an on-chip single instruction, multiple data (SIMD) vector digital signal processor (DSP). Computation times can be significantly reduced compared to conventional CPUs. Infineon offers an automated tool chain within its ecosystem to ensure the most convenient and efficient handling of PPUs. For example, automated toolchains enable customers to automatically convert existing models into vectorized code.

Thomas Boehm, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Automotive Microcontroller Product Line at Infineon Technologies, said: “Infineon’s new AURIX TC4x family is designed to improve the efficiency of many xEV applications. Today, we are proud to announce that AURIX TC4x overcomes the computing performance constraints, enabling our customers to fully exploit the value of high-precision models and algorithms. Currently, a new round of technological advancements in the field of electric vehicles is driving the booming development of the battery management system (BMS) field. We are providing excellent semiconductor hardware At the same time, we are excited to serve this market with a partner like Eatron."
