Infineon launches XENSIV tire pressure sensor to meet the needs of tire pressure monitoring systems with intelligent functions

【Lansheng Technology News】Infineon Technologies AG combines its proven expertise in the automotive field with patented glass-silicon-glass MEMS silicon sensors for the automotive tire pressure monitoring system market to launch XENSIV™ SP49 tire pressure monitoring sensor.

This sensor integrates a MEMS sensor and an ASIC to provide the smart tire functions required for advanced tire pressure monitoring systems. XENSIV™ SP49 tire pressure monitoring sensor uses a powerful 32-bit Arm® M0+ core, large-capacity flash memory and RAM, and has low power consumption monitoring and more optimized fast acceleration sensing functions. It is suitable for automatic tire position detection, tire inflation assistance, Intelligent tire functions such as tire puncture detection and load detection.

SP49 is a new generation product of Infineon's previous generation SP40 TPMS. It is pin-to-pin compatible with SP40. It is equipped with hardware master/slave I²C interface and software simulation UART, SPI and PWM interface. It is suitable for frequencies below 1 GHz and can be expanded to for BLE TPMS.

This sensor meets ASIL-A standards, is highly integrated and optimized, and has all the functions required by a modern TPMS module. The SP49 integrates a microcontroller, sensors and convenient peripherals, so only a few passive components are needed to form a complete TPMS sensor unit. This semiconductor device is designed with low power consumption, making it ideal for battery-powered applications.

In addition to the ability to utilize an internally integrated interval timer for wake-up functionality, the SP49 sensor is also suitable for stand-alone remote pressure sensing solutions requiring low power consumption. In these applications, this low-frequency receiver with wake-up functionality and best-in-class sensitivity enables on-demand measurements.
